God, it’s awful. These post-Christmas days. Which are very firmly NOT euphoric. But full of duties such as thank you letters, clearing up industrial quantities of wrapping paper and moulded plastic, and the odd regifting of the unwanted present. Oh, and dealing with broken flying Hamster.

My son learned this today at school. “You see?” I said triumphantly. “That’s it. That IS IT.” Boring I know but it sort of summarises my standpoint. Poor daughter no 2. We have done a booklet of the dreaded Kumon every single morning now for three weeks. But she’s getting quicker at it, and the sums are easier. And repetition is the key. Read more

Well I just don’t know. Yes, this is a dreadful invention which tortures families on a daily basis.  Yet it might also really help with the development of your child. It’s not too expensive, and it’s very convenient. And much much easier than employing a tutor. But it involves total parental commitment. Read more
